In December 2023, the Conservatório Regional de Música de Ferreirim, Sernancelhe commissioned VALEROSO MILAGRE to premiere at the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the death of the Portuguese writer Aquilino Ribeiro. This event was held on May 25 at the National Pantheon in Lisbon.
Andrés Álvarez was inspired by the writer's story of the same name to write this composition. A story in which Aquilino Ribeiro narrates the resistance of the Portuguese people in the monastery of Nossa Sra. da Assunçao da Tabosa against the Napoleonic invasion.
