The CONXO BANQUET took place on March 2, 1856 in the now defunct town hall of Conxo. It was an act of fraternization between workers, artisans and students, in which the students, from a high social class, served the workers and artisans as waiters as a symbol of respect and equality. The banquet was a socialist gesture, which aroused the anger of the most powerful sectors of Santiago de Compostela.

It worked as an attack on the traditional preconceived social scheme, so that students, most of the wealthy classes, and artisans shared bread and table. Organized by Luis Rodríguez Seoane, among others, the banquet was attended by Aurelio Aguirre and Eduardo Pondal. The three, Rodríguez, Aguirre and Pondal, recited toasts in verse. It is speculated that Rosalía de Castro may have been present.

Composer Andrés Álvarez based his writing of a homonymous muiñeira on this historic event. A commission from the Municipal Music Band of Santiago de Compostela and its maestro, David Fiuza, to commemorate the Three Kings' concert in 2024.
